Create, share and save your album.
You create the album and share its QR code or link. Guests choose photos in their browser. You manage the collection and save your copy before hosting ends.
Your Free album holds up to 100 photos in total and stays available for 14 days from its first successful upload. No payment card needed. Videos are not included.
1. Create your album
Enter your email address and an album name. Guests will see that name, so make it recognisable. You use email sign-in for album management; guests do not need an account.
Keep the management link for yourself. The guest album link and its QR code are the ones to share. If you choose password protection or encryption, prepare the access information guests will need.
2. Try it in a separate album
Try the guest flow in a separate rehearsal album: scan the QR code, select a photo, wait for confirmation and check that it appears. A test photo starts the hosting period, so use your event album only when you are ready for that countdown to begin.
Run the test with a phone on the connection guests are likely to use. A preview or sample illustration explains the flow; it does not prove a photo was uploaded to your actual album.
4. Choose photos and wait for confirmation
Guests scan the code or open the link, choose photos in their phone’s picker and start the upload. Free accepts photos, with no included video uploads.
Keep the page open while it prepares and uploads the photos. Wait for the completion message, then check the album. If only some files completed, read the result before trying the remaining ones.
If the upload does not finish
Uploads need a working connection. A slow venue connection can make them take longer, and FotoDrop does not upload offline. If scanning does not open the album, try its link in your usual browser.
- Check whether the phone’s photo picker or a permission prompt is waiting for you.
- If the connection drops, read the retry message and check which photos completed.
- If the album is full or expired, ask the host to check its status. Repeating the upload will not add capacity or reopen it.
5. Download before hosting ends
Open the active album and use its available download controls to save the photos you want to keep. Check the saved files before the expiry date.
For an encrypted album, open it with the complete key-bearing link so your browser can unlock the photos. Recovering a saved key does not restore expired or deleted content.
Photos are normally optimised to at most 4,000 pixels on the longest edge. Keep the camera originals separately if you need untouched files, larger prints or room for substantial cropping.
Understand the sharing boundary
Guests open the album in their browser without installing an app or creating an account. By default, people with the shared link or QR code can view its photos while the album is active. A link can be forwarded, and recipients can save copies.
A password restricts entry to people who also know it. With encryption enabled, your browser encrypts photos before uploading them and decrypts them for viewing or saving. Keep the complete sharing link safe. FotoDrop retains information for owner recovery, so browser-side encryption does not make the provider technically unable to recover the key.
If you lose the complete link, sign in to management. You may be able to recover the saved key in your browser using the original creation email while the album is active, accessible and its stored recovery details remain available.
Need a hand?
Contact [email protected] with the message you see and the step where you got stuck. Leave out passwords, sign-in links and encryption keys.
You can upgrade your album to Mini or Full, or add photos, video, storage or more hosting time, from the album’s management page. Event Kit Base and XL are also available. School plans are not offered on this site.
