Wedding QR code sign generator

Make a wedding QR code sign that guests can scan to open your photo album. Paste the link, write a heading such as “Share your photos with us”, choose a layout and paper size, then download a print-ready PDF or PNG. You don’t need an account, and the QR code is made in your browser.

Make your QR code sign

Paste the link guests should open, write a heading and a short message, and choose a layout. The sign is made in your browser; nothing you type is sent to FotoDrop or anyone else.

Before you print copies, print one and scan it with two or three different phones to check that it opens the right page.

How to make your wedding QR code sign

  1. Copy the link guests should open. For a FotoDrop album, open its QR code & sharing section and copy the link. Any other photo album or web page works too.
  2. Paste it into the generator. Check that the line under the preview shows the page you expect. That’s exactly what the QR code opens.
  3. Write a heading and a short message. Keep the default wording or write your own. Add your names or the date if you like.
  4. Pick a layout and paper size. Classic, Elegant or Bold, on A4 or US Letter.
  5. Download the PDF or PNG. Print the PDF at actual size, not “fit to page”. Use the PNG if you want to place the sign in your own design.
  6. Print one and scan it with two or three different phones before you print the rest.

The generator only uses links that start with https:// or http://. If the link is too long to give a code that scans easily from paper, it says so rather than printing an unreliable code.

What to write on a wedding QR code sign

A good sign tells guests what to do in one short line, then what happens when they scan. Keep it to a heading and one or two sentences: guests read it standing up, often holding a drink.

Headings that work:

  • Share your photos with us
  • Capture the love
  • Help us see the day through your eyes
  • Snap, scan, share
  • Your view of our day

Messages that work:

  • “Scan the code with your phone camera and add your photos to our album.”
  • “Add your photos from today, and any you take on the way home.”
  • “Point your camera at the code, choose your photos and wait until the upload is confirmed.”

Only promise what your album does. Say “no app needed” only if that’s true for the link you use, and don’t mention videos if the album takes photos only. If guests have until a certain date to add photos, put the date on the sign.

Where to put your QR code signs

Guests scan the codes they see while they’re waiting or standing around. Good spots:

  • The welcome table or entrance, where everyone passes once.
  • Each guest table, as a small card next to the place names or the menu.
  • The bar and the photo booth, where people already have their phones out.
  • The exit or the cloakroom, for the photos taken late in the evening.

Put signs where there’s light at night, at eye or table height. Matt paper or a matt frame avoids glare under spotlights.

Keep the white border around the code. Scanners need that margin, so don’t trim it off, cover it with a frame mount or place the code on a dark background. If you print two signs per sheet for table cards, the code shrinks with the page; scan a printed card before you print the rest.

Signs work best with a reminder. Ask your MC or a friend to mention the code once during the evening, and add it to your wedding website and the message you send after the wedding.

Test the code before you print copies

Print one sign at its final size and scan it with an iPhone and an Android phone, on mobile data as well as the venue Wi-Fi. Check that it opens the right album and that a test photo uploads.

For a FotoDrop album: Try the guest flow in a separate rehearsal album: scan the QR code, select a photo, wait for confirmation and check that it appears. A test photo starts the hosting period, so use your event album only when you are ready for that countdown to begin.

A printed code can’t be changed. If you switch albums, make and print the sign again.

Collect the photos behind the code

The sign is only half the job: the link needs to lead somewhere guests can actually add their photos. A FotoDrop album gives you that link, and its own downloadable QR code image too.

Guests open the album in their browser without installing an app or creating an account. By default, people with the shared link or QR code can view its photos while the album is active. A link can be forwarded, and recipients can save copies.

Your Free album holds up to 100 photos in total and stays available for 14 days from its first successful upload. No payment card needed. Videos are not included.

Photos are normally optimised to at most 4,000 pixels on the longest edge. Keep the camera originals separately if you need untouched files, larger prints or room for substantial cropping.

Need more room, videos or time? Mini ($9) and Full ($19) are one-off payments per album, with no subscription.

Questions and answers

Yes. You can make and download as many signs as you like without an account. The sign carries only your own text and QR code, with no FotoDrop logo.
